baking and making

The week before Christmas my flatmate and I decided to make ginger bread men, for the first time - some one else has always made the dough previous years, but this year I did it myself. And I must admit, making the dough was a bit trickier than, say, sketching. But we did it!

And tonight I'm making dark rye bread - two of them!

Feeling very housewife-ish ;)

Some glimpses from this past week

Birthday party for my nephew, last days of colourful autumn, random photo hanging in a subway station, candy, movie night.

Quote from the book I am currently translating

"As you go through your day, look for God in the ordinary, as well as in the obviously spiritual.
Search for him in the dancing sunlight, in the clouds, in a smile.
Smell him in the flowers, the fresh pine, and the wind.
Listen for him in the songbirds, the rustling leaves, or a laugh.
And if you look closely, you may even be able to find God on your ride to school, in a quirky teacher, in your chaotic school hallways, and in the faces of your friends and family.
Stay awake. God is near."

So beautiful.
